Monetary Donations

As a registered non-profit charitable organization, the Red Deer & District Museum Society relies on earned revenue, including donations, to secure the future of the Museum in our community.

Community support assists the Society to build and maintain the MAG as the “hub of history” in Red Deer and area.

Financial contributions will help preserve the collections for future generations to come.

The MAG combines the wonderful elements of a museum and art gallery to Inspire a Passion for History and Art. A donation to the Red Deer Museum + Art Gallery supports the diverse ranges of exhibitions and public programs.

The Red Deer & District Museum Society gratefully acknowledges the funding support provided of the City of Red Deer, Alberta Foundation for the Arts, Canadian Heritage, and Alberta Lotteries.

Our Front Desk would also be happy to process your donation via phone (MC/Visa only): give us a call at 587.797.4040.

Donations of $20+ are eligible for a tax receipt, issued the following year. If you would like a tax receipt for your donation, please ensure your mailing address is included.

Object Donations

The first step for donating an item to the MAG is to contact the Collections Coordinator to discuss it. We are always grateful to be offered material, but we are strict about what we accept. The MAG is interested in artifacts and works of art which are in good shape and well documented and which help to tell significant stories about people, and their cultures, lifestyles and history.

To become part of our collections, an artifact must:

  • Be significant and specific to Red Deer and/or Central Alberta;
  • Be unique. It must not duplicate items already in our collections
  • Come with rich supporting information.

To donate photographs or documents, The Red Deer & District Archives should always be consulted first with these donations. They are located at 4725 49 Street, Red Deer, Alberta, phone 403.309.8403.

Grateful for our Supporters
