Rag Rug Club

Join local artistan Paige Sly in this 2-part workshop. Participants will learn a traditional skill on recycling old bed sheets into a beautiful, durable rag rug. Paige will walk participants through the process of turning old sheets into yarn, then crochet the yarn into their own rug. No experience required!

Class Dates (Winter 2023)

March 9 & 23 (Thursdays), 6:00-8:00 pm

Registration covers both sessions and is available until March 9th.

You will need:

  • Sharp (fabric) scissors
  • Cotton or cotton blend sheets (3 twin/double sized or 2-3 queen/king sized)
  • Optional: 12mm crochet hook (crochet hooks will be provided for use during the course)

Note on sheets: Participants are encouraged to bring used sheets to upcycle into rugs. Sheets that have worn patches or holes are still useable if there is still a significant amount of solid fabric remaining. Thrift shops, particularly smaller ones, are often good sources of used sheets that make excellent rugs.

Sheets should be smooth cotton or cotton blends, but not flannel or any fabric that will not tear in a straight line. The instructor will have a limited selection of extra sheets available should any of the sheets brought by participants be unsuitable for the project.

Learn how to turn old, unwanted bed sheets into a beautiful rug!
