Where is the MAG?
We are located in downtown Red Deer, next to the Golden Circle and the Recreation Centre – if you’re using Google Maps to navigate, make sure you put in Rotary Recreation Park, so you’re directed to our free parking lot out front! You know you’ve found us when you see the brick building with big white letters that say MAG on the front.
‘MAG’ stands for the Museum + Art Gallery.
Are you wheelchair accessible?
Yes! Our facility is equipped with automatic doors, and all exhibits are on one floor. Our washrooms each have an accessible stall.
Is there an admission fee to visit?
Our exhibits are free to visit. We do accept donations if you’re feeling generous, but there’s no set admission fee. There’s a lot to see, and we want to make sure you have the opportunity to do so!
Tell me about the koi fish?
While you’re here, stop by and visit our koi pond in the entryway. The koi are the legacy of a donation made in the 1980s by The Red Deer and District Chinese Community Society.
While none of the original fish remain, those we do have are anywhere between 10-20 years old. Despite their age, they have plenty of energy and would love to see you!
Visitors are asked to please follow this code of conduct:
- Do not visit the MAG if you are feeling unwell;
- Stay together with your group as you move through the exhibits;
- Wash your hands or use hand sanitizer throughout the facility;
- Ask for assistance to make a shop purchase;
- Limit personal belongings brought into the museum
The MAG has the pleasure of serving many communities within Central Alberta, many of which are considered at risk, and these restrictions are in place for the health and safety of all visitors and staff.
