Be inspired by art and biological creatures. Explore micro life on land and sea. Play outdoor games and investigate Red Deer’s creatures big and small.

Our current exhibits focus on art and biology. This week participants will look at sea life and bees as inspiration to create art.

Activities this week include..

(ages 6-9) Create and design sea creatures that live in the deep blue sea! 

(ages 10-13) For one of our projects this week we will be making mini ammonite clay fossils, paying homage to our recently proposed provincial gemstone and prehistoric marine molluscs that once swam these lands.

Supervised outdoor time is also included, as well as time to explore our galleries and Remarkable Red Deer. Please provide your own lunch & snacks, and bring appropriate outdoor clothing.

Be inspired by art and our environment. Observe gardens and underwater plants through painting and printmaking projects. Playing and collecting nature in Red Deer’s surrounding parks will also be explored.

Our current exhibits focus on art and biology. This week participants will look at plants and bugs as inspiration to create art.

Activities this week include..

(ages 6-9) This week will be making topographical sculptures of coral and seaweed along the ocean floors.

(ages 10-13) We shall examine paleobotany, and how to create our own plant fossils, as well as explore the art of Pointillism!

Supervised outdoor time is also included, as well as time to explore our galleries and Remarkable Red Deer. Please provide your own lunch & snacks, and bring appropriate outdoor clothing.

(ages 6-9) We will be examining how shaving cream can create unique effects. We will be stepping into the art genre of Cubism to see how the world appears in the eyes of a bee.

(ages 10-13) For one of our projects this week we will be making some low relief fish sculptures that play with proportion and scale.

Supervised outdoor time is also included, as well as time to explore our galleries and Remarkable Red Deer. Please provide your own lunch & snacks, and bring appropriate outdoor clothing.

Be inspired by art and our waterways. Explore underwater worlds with watercolours and create sculptures of underwater life. Play outdoor games and at Red Deer’s water park. Examine how important water is in our world.

Our current exhibits focus on art and biology. This week participants will look at water and water ecology as inspiration to create art.

Activities this week include..

(ages 6-9) This week for one of our projects will be creating an abstracted painting that looks at the many rich textures and colours of the oceans.

(ages 10-13) Inspired by the work Lyndal Osborne, we will explore and create 3D sculptures of a coral reef. As a bonus activity, we will indulge in the art of chainmail weaving.

Supervised outdoor time is also included, as well as time to explore our galleries and Remarkable Red Deer. Please provide your own lunch & snacks, and bring appropriate outdoor clothing.

(ages 6-9) For one of our projects this week we will be utilizing UV light project and fluorescent paints to paint flowers that show the ways bees see flowers.

(ages 10-13) We will “bee” building marionettes inspired by insects that impact our world. Other projects include using the same materials in different mediums to create various effects.

Supervised outdoor time is also included, as well as time to explore our galleries and Remarkable Red Deer. Please provide your own lunch & snacks, and bring appropriate outdoor clothing.
