Tanya Zuzak Collard earned a Masters of Fine Art with a specialization in Sculpture from the acclaimed Rhode Island School of Design (RISD) in 2003. She received multiple awards while at RISD, including the prestigious Award of Excellence. She completed her Bachelors of Fine Art at the University of Saskatchewan, majoring in Drawing and minoring in Painting. She Graduated with distinction and distinguished exhibition in 1999.

Collard has exhibited her work within Canada and the United States, including at Triple Candie Gallery in New York City. Three of her sculptural works are part of the Government of Saskatchewan’s permanent collection. She was selected as an influential artist in Central Alberta and one of her wall sculptures was selected as the frontispiece for the accompanying Centennial exhibition “Reflections on a Century,” curated by David Moore.

Collard has worked as a curator and professor for over 20 years. One of her most prestigious curatorial exhibitions was an exhibition of the work of Max Dean, the artist behind the Robotic Chair and a recipient of a Governor General’s Award in Visual and Media Arts.

She has taught at multiple post secondary institutions, worked for a variety of galleries and museums, and continues to share her passion for art as a professor of visual art at Red Deer Polytechnic. Tanya now proudly serves other artists and our community through her business, Clarity Art Consulting (CAC). She offers courses and mentorship for artists interested in creating with humanity and integrity. CAC also partners with private and corporate collectors who are expanding their art collections.

All of her endeavors are connected by her love and devotion to art. For her, a life without art is a tragedy. When you spend time with her, her love and passion for art is uncontainable. She will draw your attention to the design of the room you are sitting in, the pattern of the floor, the colours of the shadows through a nearby window. She will lend you her eyes and help you see the detail, the grandeur, and beauty that endlessly surrounds us. She will open your eyes to the simplest beauty that is so often missed and overlooked.
